podcast

Hey everyone, my name is Shayla Blydell and today I am going to be talking about Dick Johnson. Johnson is one of the most respected clarinet players of his time and has worked with many musicians including: Frank Sinatra, Charlie Parker, and Tony Bennett. Born in Brockton, Massachusetts Johnson started playing the clarinet at age 16. After serving in WWII he began touring with various big bands before forming his own jazz groups. While following his musical passions he also taught other young musicians in Boston, at Berklee College. He is best known for his time in the Artie Shaw Orchestra and for his fluent style. Although Johnson died in 2010, at age 84 he will forever be remembered for his prominent role on the jazz scene over the past 60 years. His colleague Artie Shaw was once quoted as saying “...You wanted to know what I think of Dick Johnson’s clarinet playing? As of this time, he’s the best that I’ve ever heard. Bar nobody. And you can quote me on that, anywhere, anytime!” Well that’s all for today folks, until next time, thanks for listening!

(RED)

(RED)

Everyone has heard of the AIDs epidemic in Africa, but few are doing anything about it.  (PRODUCT) is affiliated with many iconic brands that all contribute to a global fund, the most prominent brand is (RED).  Through these efforts more than $150 million has been raised towards programs that treat and prevent the virus (Facebook Marketing).

(RED) has run many campaigns to raise awareness of their mission to eliminate AIDs and Facebook has been their main successor. Facebook targeting was used to help them reach the perfect audience for their campaign “One Color Unites Us”.  Source says the concept of this campaign was to "allow users to badge themselves and show their support of the AID’s movement by changing their profile pictures to one of the several (RED) images".

This company was created on the idea of a collective network working together for a greater cause, making is a perfect fit for Facebook promotion.  Social media websites allow people to participate and engage with their favorite companies.  Not only has Facebook been a great tool for many past (RED) campaigns, but there is no doubt that it will help them succeed in all future campaigns as well.

Carnival Cruise Lines

Carnival Cruise Lines

Cruising have become increasingly popular within recent years,  and Carnival Cruise Line has become one of the most well-known in America.  How did Carnival gain so much popularity? Facebook is the answer here, in 2010 the cruise line decided to create their own page as a way of advertisement.  With their new page they have been able to reach a much wider range of customers and have been able to engage them as well.

Marketplace Ads are the main promotion tactic of Carnival.  Often these ads are promoting the cruise line’s newest sweepstakes where you have the chance to win anything from concert tickets to a full paid vacation.  It is obvious why their target audience (U.S. residents over the age of 21) would be interested (Facebook Marketing).  Because Facebook is an interactive website, they have been able to receive feedback from their consumer audience, helping to learn which technics are most effective.

Great success has been achieved by these promotional tactics, and it is only anticipated that more is to come.  With a new ship setting sail this year, there is no doubt that social media will play a large role in its celebration.  The company plans to combine their Facebook page with their official website, and are “really excited” about what the social media world has to offer (Facebook Marketing).
